Family Tableaus are a part of a series titled Still Life.

Still Life re-contextualizes the traditional meaning of a still life by using the Still Life genre to contemplate the meaning of stillness in art-making, intimate discourse, introspection of personal and ancestral history, spirituality, and meditation. My gouache and porcelain sculptures become assemblages symbolic of these contemplations and the different spiritual influences in my life. The sculptures in Still Life specifically references intimate family-based faith, practices and heirlooms, and the conformity that often occurs within strong family ties.
